EIDENTECH / BUILT AROUND YOUR BUSINESS

Custom Marketplace Development Services

Multi-party commerce built around seller responsibility, buyer confidence, and the operational decisions a marketplace must make every day.

Discuss your project ↗

A marketplace is a set of relationships between buyers, sellers, and the platform operating the exchange. EidenTech can develop the storefronts, discovery, transaction journey, and administration that support those relationships. Discovery defines what the platform controls and what each seller owns before the first catalogue or checkout is implemented.

OUR DELIVERY PROCESS

How we approach your project

Define the operating model before the feature list

Physical products, service listings, and enquiries introduce different marketplace rules. We identify who accepts an order, fulfils it, communicates with the buyer, and handles changes or disputes. Commission, subscriptions, or a listing model affect account and transaction requirements. A marketplace may begin with shareable seller storefronts and enquiry handling before adding centrally managed checkout. The first-release brief should state that model clearly, including the responsibilities of the platform and the seller, rather than treating every multi-vendor website as the same product.

Create accountable seller and catalogue workflows

Seller onboarding needs the information and approvals required by your chosen operating model. We map how a seller creates a store, adds products, changes availability, and manages permitted staff access. Catalogue ownership matters when several sellers offer similar items. Listings may require moderation, a review state, image rules, or a correction request before publication. Admin actions should identify the seller and reason for a change. Testing includes an incomplete profile, an unpublished listing, and a seller trying to edit another store’s catalogue.

Design discovery that reflects the offer

Categories, search, filtering, and store pages should reflect how buyers make decisions. Product marketplaces need useful variants, availability, fulfilment information, and seller context; service marketplaces may need location or enquiry requirements instead. We plan what can be filtered from reliable data and what should remain explanatory content. A store link should remain useful when shared independently of the marketplace homepage. Mobile layouts, unavailable items, missing product information, and empty search results are considered as real buyer journeys rather than edge cases left for launch.

Separate order state from payment and settlement

If checkout is part of the scope, a buyer’s purchase can create several seller-level responsibilities. We define split orders, payment verification, cancellation, returns, and the information each party sees. Supported payment-provider capabilities and your business region influence the possible settlement model. A payment event does not prove a shipment was fulfilled. Duplicate events and partial failure need explicit handling. The platform should show which seller action is outstanding and provide a reviewable path for operational exceptions instead of collapsing every state into paid or unpaid.

Pilot moderation and support alongside the product

A marketplace needs administration for content, sellers, transactions, and customer questions. We scope role permissions, activity history, reporting definitions, and the actions the operating team can take. Release validation should use several sellers and representative buyer journeys, including an unavailable item and a changed order where relevant. Handover covers catalogue policy ownership, provider accounts, and support responsibilities. A pilot can reveal rules that need refinement while your team recruits suitable sellers and buyers.

SHAPED AROUND YOUR SCOPE

What we can deliver

We agree the requirements and responsibilities before development begins. Your project scope can include:

  • An operating model defining buyer, seller, and platform responsibilities, together with a focused launch scope.
  • Seller onboarding, store and catalogue workflows, and buyer discovery suited to the marketplace’s actual offering.
  • Agreed transaction or enquiry handling with clear access, moderation, and relevant payment or fulfilment connections.
  • Multi-party acceptance scenarios, operational administration, ownership documentation, and a practical pilot release plan.
PRACTICAL ENGINEERING

Technology choices for your requirements

The stack follows your integrations, operating model, and maintenance needs. These are options to review during discovery, rather than a fixed stack promised for every project.

  • React or Next.js and TypeScript for buyer, seller, and platform administration experiences.
  • Server-side role checks and PostgreSQL records for store ownership, listings, and transaction states.
  • Supported commerce, payment, and logistics APIs where required by the agreed operating and settlement model.
BEFORE WE BEGIN

Planning questions, answered

Can you build a marketplace for multiple retailers?

Yes. We can define seller storefronts, product ownership, buyer discovery, and the platform’s administration responsibilities. Crewmart is a retailer community application currently in development around instant storefronts and shareable store links.

Does a marketplace need to collect every payment?

Not necessarily. A storefront and enquiry model differs from a platform-managed checkout. We clarify the commercial and operational model before proposing payment or settlement work, including what the chosen provider supports for your business region.

Can sellers manage their own store and products?

Yes. Seller accounts can have scoped editing and staff permissions. Publication and moderation rules need to be agreed so sellers know what they control and the platform can review listings where its operating model requires it.

Can we launch with one category first?

Yes. A focused category can make the pilot easier to operate and test. We still plan the complete buyer and seller journey, catalogue fields, and future constraints so expanding the marketplace does not depend on undocumented exceptions.
